Pasar Pasar Pasar

Upgrading the market to mixed-use can address the housing supply backlog and stimulate the market economy.

The limited and high price of land in Jakarta should not prevent residents from having affordable and decent housing in Jakarta. Through local government policies to optimize land use, the provision of affordable housing can be realized.

JPI has identified four strategically located markets in the middle of the city whose utilization is not optimal. The average Building Floor Coefficient (KLB) of these markets is only 2.4. In fact, these four markets have the potential to be converted into mixed-use buildings, namely markets and residences. Increasing the KLB at one market location to 5 could house 300-2,500 people.

Therefore, JPI proposes the DKI Jakarta Government through Perumda Pasar Jaya to build flats above the market. With the land owned by the government, it is expected that housing prices can be affordable. The markets will also be crowded with buyers again.
